SIMPLIFYING THE COMPLEX CONNECT WITH KAMELEON CONNECTING PEOPLE AND BREAKING BARRIERS

Liaison interpreting

In liaison interpreting, the interpreter verbally translates to and from the two languages being spoken in the conversation.

Speakers pause after presenting each idea for the interpreter to express it in the other language.

We would be happy to provide you with advice, without any obligation, on the different interpretation modalities and on which one best suits your needs.

KEY FACTORS IN LIAISON INTERPRETING

Liaison interpreting is used in meetings, receptions, business lunches and dinners, trade fairs and appearances at public institutions (courts, police stations, tribunals, etc.) with a small number of participants.

As in consecutive interpreting, this modality has the advantage of not requiring technical equipment and the interpreter is physically present along with the rest of the participants. The difference is that, in this case, the interpreter works to and from the two languages and transfers the message immediately after shorter interventions by the speaker, and so does not usually use notes.

Short-term memory and a complete command of both languages are very important in liaison interpreting.

By acting as a direct mediator between the two parties, social skills such as emotional intelligence and empathy play a particularly important role in this case.
